Spectacular cup-shaped white hybrid semi-double. The somewhat serrated petal-edges of the white bowl include within their circumference yellow filaments and white-yellow carpels with pink stigmata. Floriferous. Seed-fertile. Tallish bush has hybrid vigor. Leaflets of a fairly light green are veined and large. First bloomed 2001. Early. Seedling # RA 14.

Seedling C-80. SEMI_DOUBLE. Parentage: 'Qutizin' x 'Sunny Boy'. An early herbaceous hybrid; bright, petal-packed yellow flowers with some tones of cream and peach are 8" (20 cm) across; 3" wide guards; pale green carpels with pink stigmata; slight fragrance; sidebuds; 35" (90 cm) stems with medium green, somewhat pointed, veined leaflets; seeds and pollen; a variety in which are combined the vigorously voluminous petal-profusion of the seed parent and the color excellence of the pollen parent.

Double herbaceous hybrid. Salmon Dream x Lemon Chiffon. First year bloomed 1987. Ploidy-Tetraploid. Pastel creamy-pink double with stamens interspersed throughout and clustered around carpels which are not hidden. Tetraploid. Fertile both ways. 30" height holds flower erect. Large but not coarse semi-glossy foliage, midseason bloom. Seedling # 82SDLC-4.

Parentage: 'Salmon Dream' x Roger Anderson seedling AT-84-16. Limited distribution of this plant has taken place over the last 20 years under the name now being registered. Very large dusty pink DOUBLE flowers that are carried one to a stem, on sturdy 36 inch (90 cm) stems requiring no support. Has green carpels, smooth, usually three, with pink functional stigmas. Has stamens (cream colored at the base, then yellow) and pollen and readily makes seeds, particularly with tetraploid pollen. It has a well-developed staminodal disc colored cream-pink. As a parent it has proven to be very good for the production of double pastel seedlings. Early foliage is red, later foliage is broad-pointed and green. Blooms early midseason, and growth rate is moderate.

Advanced generation herbaceous hybrid. Parentage is Pastelorama x Pastelegance. Very large pink fully double with well organized flowers. Has 2 rows of large, flattened guard petals with the remaining ruffled petals filling the entire flower. Light red stigmas. Incomplete, nearly unidentifiable cream disc. Anthers distributed throughout petals, but concentrated toward carpels. Yellow filaments. Primary flowers often have abortive stigmas, while side buds have better developed reproductive structures. Best fertility on side buds, but primary flowers will occasionally produce seed. Has complete bud covers. Relatively short plants with excellent sturdy stems that carry the very large flowers without support. Flowers may be borne one per stem some years, or with 2-3 side buds other years. Plants have wide deep green foliage to the ground. 28 to 30 inch stems. One of the most coveted seedlings during tours of our herbaceous hybrids. Fertile both ways, but pollen is certainly easier. Named for my soul mate and partner for life. Superior in all aspects.

Double type; very large; early. White, with prominent crimson flakes on a few central petals; fairly fragrant. Tall; very floriferous; stems usually strong. Foliage large, dark green. Excellent for both garden decoration and cutting. The flowers are globular, with wide petals of heavy substance, loosely arranged, and last well when cut. An old, thoroughly tested variety whose merit is proved by its very great popularity. "Does not last well when cut. Chicago market says it is a poor cut-flower."— Brand. "Splashed, streaked, and edged with crimson. Usually flatfish rather than globular."—Saunders. "Stems good but not rigid by any means—rather spreading."—Little.

Double - Pink - Early. Tall. Moderate fragrance. Very large. Light rose-pink of the dull-opaque quality seen in pink chrysanthemums; broad, smooth guard petals; center incurved and silvered with light grayish pink. Very free-flowering; stems lax and loose. Foliage light green. One of the most popular of all peonies. Its stems are bad for garden use, but it is most effective when cut. M.

'Monsieur Jules Elie' (Mister Jules Elie) (Crousse, France, 1888). Flowers pink, on the outside paler, double, early; leaves mid large, regular of shape, pale green; height 90 cm, stems good to mediocre (usually somewhat too thin); number of stems mediocre to good. This cultivar which is by now 100 years old is imporant as a cutflower. In 1996 this cultivar took seventh place at the Aalsmeer auction, despite its only mediocre stem strength. This cultivar has also shown some susceptibility towards botrytis, although it should be noted that this disease appears less frequently on heavier soils. The plant can also be infested with root knot nematodes. This cultivar cannot be recommended as a garden plant.

Growing in bushes and grasslands, but also in open woods, at altitudes from lowlands to 2,300 m, but to 3,400 m in Sichuan Province (Kangding), China. In E Asia: China, the Korea Peninsula, E Mongolia, and Russia (the Far East and SE Siberia).

The most distinct character of Paeonia lactiflora is the cartilaginous thickening along the leaf margins, which are dentate—spinose on these thickenings.

No seedling number, has always been referred to as Kolyska. Parentage: ‘Monsieur Jules Elie’ x ‘The Fawn’. Seed planted 2010, first bloomed 2015, first propagated 2018. DOUBLE, of flower-in-flower form, size 7-8 inches (18-20 cm), normally with 2 side buds. Pink color of flowers achieved by dark pink spots speckled on a white background. Guard petals near white, inner petals more intensely pigmented. Row of petals boldly edged carmine show boundary between inner and outer “flowers.” Guard petals rounded but petals become notched, almost frilled, towards the center. Average width of guard petals 3 1/2-4 inches (9-10 cm). Pollen-bearing stamens interspersed among petals at boundary between first and second stage flowers. Carpels, yellowish, very hairy. Stigmas orangish, somewhat feathered, but fertile and capable of seed production. Strong fragrance. Midseason bloom period. Early foliage green, rimmed reddish, becomes fully green at maturity. Upright growth on strong stems, height 35 1/2-39 inches (90-100 cm). Stem strength supports main flower when side buds are removed, otherwise mechanical support may be needed. The cultivar name refers to a child’s cradle and was inspired by the suggestion of a child nestled in a cradle as the flower first opens.

Rose pink dots on blush background, speckled.

Usually growing in steppes, meadows, open sandy dunes, shrubs, or at the edges of forests. Paeonia tenuifolia seems to prefer dry habitats, and was found growing at lowlands below an altitude of 900 m. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia (the Caucasus), Serbia, Turkey (European part) and Ukraine.

Paeonia tenuifolia as circumscripted here is a very distinct species. It has the finest leaflets/leaf segments and the greatest number of leaflets/leaf segments of any peony species.

Parentage unknown, a seedling given to Kris Casey by William Seidl in the 1990’s. Has long been known as Krickles and has had limited prior distribution under that name. Named for Kris Casey. First year bloomed is unknown but sometime in the 1990’s. First propagated 2004. Large pale lavender-pink SEMI-DOUBLE flowers, usually only 1 per stem, 7½ inches (19 cm) in size. Petals are attractively ruffled and crimped along the edges, darker lavender at the base, flushing paler towards the edges. Seven to 10 pale green carpels, sparsely hairy, topped with bright pink-red stigmas. Sheath partial, purple. Pollen-bearing stamens with filaments lavender-orchid at the base, fading to white at the tips. Fertile both ways. Flowers carried in upright, well displayed position. Plants are strong growers with excellent disease resistance. Foliage is typical of most suffruticosa cultivars, deep blue-green, but has red petioles and veining in leaves. Stems branch liberally and produce many flowers each year. Excellent stem hardiness, resisting winter damage in most years. Upright growth to 5 feet (160 cm) with a spread of 6 feet or more (180 cm) after 10 years.

Single. Light pinkish lavender, bright, average sized flowers, white pistils with red tops. 22" tall.

Award of Landscape Merit (ALM) description: 'Krinkled White' (Brand, A.M., 1928) Lactiflora Group, Mid-season, 32? — A medium-sized single with pure white taffeta-textured petals surrounding a yellow mound of stamens, with white-tipped carpels peeking through. Many side buds prolong the bloom season. Strong slender stems. Opens light pink in cool wet weather. It withstands drought well and is noted for its performance under adverse conditions. Consistent, reliable and guileless. With moderate care, 'Krinkled White' is capable of handsome fall foliage, sporting orangey stems and fresh looking yellow-green leaves. Proven performer in all regions—growing well up north and as far south as Shreveport, Louisiana and Birmingham, Alabama.

Yellow full double tetraploid hybrid, becomes bomb-shaped, yellow guards. Center has two shades of yellow, many yellow petals and petalodes tinged peach at base start off spotted green. Opens as large compact green-yellow globe, distinct green blotches slowly fade with growth of crown. Good stems and foliage, very heavy roots, floriferous, fragrant, one of the last hybrids. Bloomed first 2000.

Peach semi-double, tetraploid hybrid with pale green carpels, lilac-pink stigmata, and yellow filaments. Low in stature with durable foliage. Seeds. First bloomed 2001. (Originally listed as MAHASKA but name changed, 324:41.)

HERBACEOUS HYBRID. Seedling number 84-2/MM03. Has previously been distributed to selected growers under seedling number MM03. Parentage unknown, but colour and fertility suggest it is an advanced generation hybrid. First bloomed prior to 1997. First year propagated, 1998. SINGLE. Flowers are pale yellow (RHS 1D), 6 inches (15 cm) across, with rounded petals. Colour retained until petal drop. The plant is very floriferous, with sidebuds occurring frequently. Two carpels on average, moderately hairy. Stigmas pale pink having normal anatomy. Pollen bearing stamens are more than ¾ inch long (15 mm), with uniform yellow filaments. Staminodal disc is well developed complete, and white. Pale yellow-green foliage on emergence, matures to light green. Upright plant with slightly relaxed habit when compared to other Ménard seedlings though mechanical support not required. Stems average 85 cm (33.5 inches) in height. Blooms early/midseason. Much admired and considered one of the very best of the seedlings resulting from the work of Québec peony breeder Maurice Ménard. Named in honour of Sonia Hélène Labatt, Ph.D., by her husband Arthur Labatt, in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. A donation to the SPCA Montérègie has been made in Dr. Labatt’s name for the privilege of naming this peony.

Growing mostly in deciduous broad-leaved forests, pine forests or mixed forests, less frequently in grasses. The species prefers calcarious soils and is found usually at altitudes from 50 to 1,500 m. Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy (Mt San Donato di Ninea), Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.

The most distinct character of Paeonia peregrina is its always teeth-lobed leaflets or segments, which distinguish it readily from P. officinalis and P. saueri. The other distinct characters are tuberous or fusiform lateral roots, leaflets or segments often with bristles along veins on the upper surface, and dark-red and cup-shaped corollas.

Leaves biternate [divided twice into three parts], leaflets oblong, more rarely obovate [egg-shaped with the narrow end at the base], shortly acuminate [tapering to a short point], glaucous [blue-green] above, of a different pale color beneath and shortly puberulous [covered in fine, short hairs], with yellow flowers, spreading petals, and tomentose [densely fuzzy] carpels that are arched-spreading.

(Lemoine, 1905) Hybrid. (albiflora x Wittmanniana) white

Seedling: Guy #2-2006. Parentage: P. mlokosewitschii x 'Le Printemps'. First bloomed 2012, first propagated 2013. SINGLE, normally only one flower per stem, flower size 6 inches (23 cm). Guard petals are pale yellow, rounded, and cupped. Carpels are yellow, as are the stigmas. Staminodal disk is red. Has pollen bearing stamens and will make seeds. Blooms early midseason and is fragrant. It is however the foliage that makes 'La Mutante' very different. During the first three weeks the foliage is yellow (RHS 153C) with the tips being more intensely colored. Spots of dark green then begin to appear on the yellow background followed by a fading of the yellow to creamy white. The leaflets then become suffused with pink and this effect lasts until autumn. Average height at maturity 32 inches (81 cm), no support needed. A note from the originator states that he is always pleasantly surprised to see the color of the foliage through that of the other peonies with the vivid yellow color appearing like a ray of sunshine. The pale yellow flowers harmonize with and compliment the foliage.

Award of Landscape Merit (ALM) description: 'Cytherea' (Saunders, 1953) Herbaceous Hybrid, Early, 24? — Intense, warm rose-colored, semi-double flowers carried on strong, upright stems begin bloom as closed, symmetrical balls that gradually open to a bowl shape, six inches across. Blooms keep well on the plant, remaining viable for up to a week as they slowly turn from warm rose to peachy pink to cream to ghost white. Blooms can open intermittently, so blooms at various stages of development and color may be present on a single bush. Young blooms are reflexive, protecting themselves from inclement weather by closing up and reopening when the weather breaks and the sky lightens. Foliage is subject to summer senescence due to heat and water stress. Plants may take some extra time to get established, with ten-year-old plants maturing to not more than 18 stems. Reputed to grow well as far south as Birmingham, Alabama, with Regina, Saskatchewan appearing to approach its northern limit. Roots are adventitious and small, even for a hybrid, so divisions may appear fragile though plentiful; a three year old plant can yield four standard three–five eyed divisions with six to eight smaller, substandard “plantbacks” (Editor’s Note: “Plantbacks” are substandard divisions either with less root or fewer eyes, not saleable but too good to discard and good enough to use as propagation stock). Parentage: Pod parent a Lutea Hybrids Group peony of unknown origin being marketed as “High Best.” Pollen parent ‘Xue Lian’ (Suffruticosa Group), one of the most common of the peonies derived from P. rockii marketed in China today. Very late season bloom. First year bloomed 2019, first propagated 2019. SEMI-DOUBLE, 7 inches in size (18 cm), with 1 or 2 sidebuds. Yellowish-cream petals washed pink. Dark purple flares extend 35% of petals’ length, with bleeding edges. Large guard petals to 3 inches width (7¾ cm). Petals overall evenly ruffled. Average of 5 carpels, pale green, sparsely hairy. Stigmas greenish-yellow having normal anatomy. Stamens lavender-purple at base, white at tips. Pollen absent. No fertility observed. Sheath complete, lavender-purple. Fragrant. Typical Lutea Hybrid foliage, yellow-green. Upright growth to 40 inches (101 cm). Named for Dezhong Chen, the father of Angela (Fuhui) Chow.

35". Semi-double to full double, red, lusterless, lemon pistils have lemon tops.

First bloomed 2006 from seeds collected 2002, first propagated 2007. Parentage; 'Lavender' open pollinated. Has had limited distribution since 2009 to breeders, and a few others, as 'Lavender Baby'. Early bloom season (6 days before 'Red Charm' in 2012). One flower per stem, flower size 5 inches (13 cm). No fragrance. Flowers are single, colored dark lavender, approaching purple tones. Carpels are light green, 3 on average, with dark purple stigmas. Filaments are the same color as the petals at the base, fading to near white at the tips. Has pollen and readily makes seeds under open pollination and also when crossed with tetraploids. Foliage with strongly divided narrow leaflets, grey-green color, with a matte finish. Average height at maturity 18 inches (45 cm).

(officinalis rubra x lactiflora} A sensation at recent peony shows. Perfect double bomb type, rich red collar of big petals, full and sturdy plant, no stamens, rather long pale green pistils.

'Red Charm' (Glasscock, USA, 1944) (P. lactiflora x P. officinalis) Flowers dark red, very large, double, centre filled with many deep red petaloids, surrounded by two circles of large petals; leaves rather large, dull green; upperside somewhat irregular; height 100 cm; stems rather sturdy; number of stems mediocre. This American cultivar is remarkable thanks to its magnificent colour and the enormously large flowers, which need support to remain upright, despite the plant having sturdy stems. The mediocre number of stems and the development of so called 'necks' on the roots inhibited propagation and distribution at large scale for some time. 'Red Charm' is reportedly somewhat susceptible toward botrytis, which was also noted by the review commission. It is a good garden plant, despite some negative characteristics.

35". Single. Clear pink, big flowers, a bit crinkled and mottled, 6 inches wide. Average number of flowers, big heavy long bright golden stamens. Near white pistils have red tops. Fairly dense plant, big leaves, flowers carried high above bush.

Award of Landscape Merit (ALM) description: 'Roselette' (Saunders, 1950) Herbaceous Hybrid, Very early, 36?, Strong scent — Second generation hybrid descended from P. lactiflora, P. mlokosewitschi and P. tenuifolia; single. For those chomping at the bit each spring, 'Roselette' is prized for its early blooms that usher in the season of full size peonies. Each warm pink bloom is cupped and crinkled, consisting of nine or ten petals with occasional hairline streaks of cool red running their length along vein lines. A feather flare of light pink is evident on the backside of the petals. Stamen filaments are lighter and more lemon in color than the stamens. Carpels are light lemon green and tipped deep red. Erect stems hold blooms high above the bush. Mature blooms remain attractive withstanding early spring winds. Light green foliage is dense and, if Roselette is well situated and watered, durable all season, a legacy of its big-leafed peony heritage, P. macrophylla. A model of health above ground, so too 'Roselette' is below, with unearthed six-year old plants showing no evidence of root rot. Establishes and increases stem count quickly. Propagates readily by division, yielding superior “wagon wheel” type bare roots, attached to three–five eyed crown. Also propagates by adventitious roots. Suitable for landscape only.

Very dark red Jap. Good upright grower, vigorous, late, 34 inches. An improvement on Fuyajo. Seedling # JE-3.

Award of Landscape Merit (ALM) description: 'Charm' (Franklin, 1931) Lactiflora Group, Late mid-season, 38? — A lustrous and satiny, dark red Japanese form bloom with a center of the same red petaloids, etched yellow. Stiff and relatively straight stems angle outward gracefully to form a very large, harmoniously mounded, fountain of blooms. An eight-year-old plant matures to 40 or so stems that emerge from a relatively compact area. Although individual blooms are at their peak for a shorter duration than those of other lactifloras, plenty of side buds help 'Charm' maintain its striking presence in the landscape. One of the later Japanese form peonies to bloom.

Parentage: from unspecified Roger Anderson seedlings. First bloomed 2002, first propagated 2006. DOUBLE. Red double with rounded guard petals, flower 8 inches (20 cm) in size, one per stem. Some blooms may have a few inner petals colored ivory, with red veins. No fragrance. Pollen bearing stamens and seeds. Midseason bloom. Stems to 32 inches (81 cm), narrow upright self-supporting growth habit. Named for Stephen E. Ambrose (1936-2002), historian and author whose books did much to popularize American history and make it available to the ordinary citizen. Long time personal and family friend of Roger Anderson and was Roger's Boy Scout leader those many years ago.

Double hybrid; parentage Salmon Dream x Reath No. F-3: Cream Delight x Moonrise; first bloomed 1980. Lemon Yellow, hybrid, double ball; stamens, pollen, and seeds; heavy substance, floriferous; strong stems, bloom held erect; 32 inches; midseason hybrids, June 11; attractive deep green foliage. A very fertile seedling with bloom of bomb to ball-type double. Seedling Reath 80-4.

(officinalis rubra X lactiflora) Rose form double, pure cherry red. Large flower, rather dwarf. Late for this group.

Parentage, Paula Fay X Moonrise; Sib. of F-11; First bloomed in 1974. Hybrid, pale salmon pink, semi-double, flat flower. Reliable, good substance, pollen and seeds. Sturdy stems, 30 inches in height, early bloom with other lobata hybrids, deep green glossy foliage. Seedling of Paula Fay, similar plant habits. The pale salmon pink color shows the cream inherited from Moonrise. Sets seeds very easily. Does not form adventitious buds on root cuttings, therefore slower of propagation. Proven useful for hybridizing. Seedling # F-10

Award of Landscape Merit (ALM) description: 'Salmon Dream' (Reath, D.L., 1979) Herbaceous Hybrid, Early, 30" — A light, salmon pink, semi-double with rounded, gently cupped petals that are creamier at their edges and flatten as the bloom develops. Petals possess good substance and a satin sheen. A center boss of yellow stamens surround light green carpels tipped with light pink stigmata. Younger plants are more apt to produce self-colored petaloides that emerge through its center, giving the bloom a fuller appearance. Stems are strong and erect, standing well during the bloom cycle and creating a tidy compact plant. Flowers nestle just above shiny, medium-dark green foliage that covers to the ground, a beautiful presentation of a bush in bloom. Post bloom bush is attractive. Tree Peony. No seedling number. Pod parent a Rockii hybrid of unknown origin, pollen parent unknown, possibly 'Taiyo' (Japanese tree peony). First bloomed 1999. First propagated 2004. SEMI-DOUBLE flowers, Pink (RHS 58 B/C), 18 cm (7 inches) diameter, one per stem. Petals are rounded, with dark, nearly black flares. Fragrance, but not strong. Carpels 5 or more in number, light green, moderately hairy. Stigmas pink, normal. Has stamens and pollen, produces seeds. Sheath pink, complete. Foliage green, suffused purple. Upright spreading growth to 1.5 m (5 feet). Named after the musical term meaning an upbeat or vivid tempo, which is suggested by the unusually vivid pink color of the flower.

Liboria Maas (Fawkner, 2003). Herbaceous hybrid. Single with extra row of guards. Hybrid. Guards are a really intense red, transmuting after a day or two into a light red with a sharp violet-pink glow. Bright yellow filaments topped by an abundance of pollen. Green-white carpels with white-pink stigmata. Superb foliage on husky, vigorous plant. Seed-fertile. First bloomed 2002. Early midseason. Seedling # G19

White, semi-double, blush, fades to white. Early. Type of Minnie Shaylor and Sylvia Saunders but a decided improvement on these. Very large flower of good substance. Some flowers develop center petals in wet season. Average height, strong stems. A peony of the highest quality. (Silvia Saunders), 1971. Dainty noddling red windflowers swaying gracefully on thirty-six inch stems. This rare Early Windflower F-2 plant is a delightful garden addition. It should be of interest to the hybridizer.

Seedling RELSW6. Parentage: 'Roselegance' x LSW6. SINGLE. Named for the stature of Napoleon Bonaparte. 'Little Corporal' is a short plant that reaches a maximum height of 20 inches. Foliage is broad with points and is a deep green. Foliage, stature and flower are unique and will not be confused with other reds from P. peregrina lineage. One brilliant single rose red flower is carried on a sturdy stem. Flowers have a large ring of yellow stamens carried on white filaments with red bases. Carpels are green tipped with rose red stigmas. Entire flower is very symmetrical. Flowers face upward. Bloom period is early-mid season. Plants are fast growing and floriferous. Readily produces seed, but no pollen. Of interest for hybridizing due to unusual pedigree. 'Little Corporal's pod parent, 'Roselegance' is extinct and is the product of ('Salmon Dream' x 'Lemon Chiffon'). Pollen parent was Seidl seedling LSW6 ('Laddie' x 'Sparkling Windflower'), a single red. Genetics for double flowers are contained within 'The Little Corporal' via 'Roselegance' and this has been demonstrated in crosses at Solaris Farms. As a short front of the garden peony it is outstanding for color and plant form. Could easily be used in rock gardens.

Award of Landscape Merit (ALM) description: 'Little Red Gem' (Reath, D.L., 1988) Herbaceous Hybrid, Red Single, Very early, 15". — Marks the onset of peony season as stalks emerge in late winter/early spring with bright green buds nestled deep within russet tufts of filigreed foliage. Plants mature to a dwarf, airy mound of deeply dissected, medium green foliage with stalks, leaf stems and leaflets immediately underneath the buds, slightly yellower than the rest. When in bloom, small, single, cool red flowers set atop the foliage on strong, slender stems facing every which way. The blooms, one per stem, quickly lighten to pink, losing their form as they go. Plants are strongly disease resistant and suitable as specimen plants for rock gardens and for the front of the border. When adventitious roots of 'Little Red Gem' are planted close together, they can make for a unique spring to early summer ground cover. 'Little Red Gem’s' fern-like foliage is an attribute from one of its species parents P. tenuifolia, whose native habitat (hardiness zones 4-6) ranges from Berlin in the east, to Moscow in the west, north to Helsinki and south toward the Black Sea. It is not surprising then that 'Little Red Gem' goes dormant early in the South and the lower Midwestern United States. Die back of above ground foliage can be suppressed to some extent by a regular watering regimen and protection from the midday sun. Farther north, as noted by a grower outside of Montreal (hardiness zone 4) season long, good foliage can be reliably maintained with just nominal garden care. Because of its P. tenuifolia heritage, it may be advisable to amend the soil with peat moss when planting. Propagate by division or adventitious root.

Open pollinated P. Rockii, probably by a Japanese purple T.P. First bloomed 1989. Mauve/purple, paler at the edges, dark almost black flares, capsule white. Single, good substance, stamens, pollen, seeds, reliable. Good stem strength, grows five feet, blooms midseason. A vigorous plant, no red line on the leaf petiole. A very attractive single bloom, fringed petals, and an unusual pretty color. Seedling # 30353.

Seedling No. 2009-05. Parentage not given. First year bloomed 2009, first propagated 2009. SEMI-DOUBLE, white, 2 flowers per stem, 7 inches in size (18 cm). Early season bloom period. No fragrance. Pollen-bearing stamens. Seeds. Early foliage on emergence from ground, red. Upright growth, height to 37 inches (95 cm). The name comes from the title role in Richard Wagner’s Opera “Lohengrin.”

White, faintly flushed, fine substance. Foliage silver gray touched with crimson edges.

21". Single, pink with quite a lot of orange, streaked some, small flowers, has pollen, yellow stamens, white pistils with pale pink tops. Officinalis-like foliage.

Seedling TF-8. Parentage: (P. tenuifolia 'Plena' x P. tenuifolia 'Rosea')F2. First bloomed 2012, first propagated 2013. Fully double BOMB form. Baby pink flowers are borne 1 to a stem, 3¼ inches (8 cm) in size, up facing to slightly out facing. Two to three carpels on average which are glabrous to slightly tomentose, green and topped with whitish stigmas, the latter sometimes deformed. Disc poorly developed. No pollen, but as a pod parent normally fertile but not with other pink P. tenuifolia, so far. Not fragrant. Blooming time very early, together with or slightly ahead of P. tenuifolia 'Plena'. Finely cut foliage, pale green on emergence, is typical of the species. Average height to 15 inches (38 cm); support not needed. Named after originator's mother who was not the tallest person but the best mother one can imagine.
