I am posting an image of Andreas Maschke (B3) flowering in my garden. Very nice plant, herbaceous in appearance, very similar to its pollen parent. The flowers have pollen and carpels.
I have used its pollen on so called fertile itohs to increase the tree peony characters and obtain fertile backcrosses. I tried it also on herbaceous hybrids like…Read More3 CommentsI have tried B3 pollen on several itohs such as Watermelon Wine, Belle Tolousaine, Sonoma Rosy Future, Gordon Simonsen but no seeds yet. This year I have tried also the same pollen on Golden Experience. Results if any will be visible in a couple of months. I do not want to cross these RIBC2 with herbaceous hybrids because it increases the…Read More
@roberto I forgot to answer your question about my results hybridizing with this, sorry. Now that I see this post again I suddenly remember…
Growing seedlings currently from these crosses with B3 (Andreas Maschke):

This may look as a common seedling. Not special and multi petal/ semi double flower.
It’s a seedling from Flevo Star. Probably from pollen with Blushing Princess.
After discarding several seedlings from Flevo Star with dull single flower this seedling indicates that Flevo Star has (hopefully) doubleness in its genes.
The foliage is nice a…Read MoreFairfield x Little Dorritt is a very vigorous and fast increasing peony. The stems do not require support. The flowers are single, two rows of petals, with abundant stamens but there is no scattering of pollen. The color of petals keeps well.
I am posting a close up image of the flowerDick posted in the group Species Peonies International Network (SPIN)
Paeonia sterniana. Seedling.
Great to see it’s doing fine with you! Lost one of two last Winter here. The last one has decreased in size as well, I hope for survival now.
Two survived at my place. One from seeds (see picture) and one seedling.
The seedlings were too dry and the others didn’t grow at all.
I learned that sterniana hates to grow in a greenhouse. It needs the outdoors humidity.
(wish I had knew this before!)
Placed outdoors it’s trouble free and recovered from looking poor. (until yet
