No more open flowers to take images, but we should have Canary Brilliants flowering again by the end of June, early August. Mowed down several rows of them, most two weeks ago, some one week ago and the last ones just now. Waiting longer resulted in regrowth but very few flowers some years ago. The first ones are growing again.
4 CommentsThe first ones are starting to flower. Round buds this time, not pointed. They are also more double and have somewhat less woody stems. There’s quite some difference between the plants, they have all grown again, but some give 8 stems with a bud, whilst others only 1. It’s the first time that I cut back such young plants (2nd growing season), before they were always younger (3 years and 5 years). I guess it’s better when you wait until their third year. Still, we’ll have flowers of it for several weeks now, though clearly, as expected, the ones cut down later give fewer flowers on average.

Approximately 1 month after the first rows have been mowed down. All of them grow again, though the ones cut down a few weeks later are only starting to grow.
