Das ist eine Paeonia obovata Maxim.aus der Region Priamurie. Die Pflanze ist sehr zierlich, ca. 40 cm gross. Die Blüten bleiben geschlossen.
Bought a peony from Belgium in February, but was not what I expected. Wondering what it might be? Suspects that it is a P. daurica.

Yes, the leaves look like caucasica. 9 leaflets and the shape is also what it should be.

Nice. I still think P. caucasica, mine look the same.

Have bought peonies on several occasions based on the name and the first was probably ‘Going Bananas’ who doesn’t want one with that name? Or haven’t we all had a ‘Bad Hair Day’? Difficult to say. Only the petals are clearly visible. But given that it’s early and has an average colour and from the leaves I can see vaguely in the distance it might well be what you think it is, a P. daurica. I think P. daurica ssp coriifolia (or better-known a P. caucasica).
