A beautiful plant which I received from @roberto (Roberto Gamoletti) three years ago. An unnamed selection from the cross Fairfield x Little Dorrit. It has P. peregrina-like foliage and I very much like the color of the flower. Easy growing also.
I am posting an image of Andreas Maschke (B3) flowering in my garden. Very nice plant, herbaceous in appearance, very similar to its pollen parent. The flowers have pollen and carpels.
I have used its pollen on so called fertile itohs to increase the tree peony characters and obtain fertile backcrosses. I tried it also on herbaceous hybrids like…Read MoreOne of Hans Maschke’s masterpieces now in bloom here: Andreas Maschke (from Bartzella x Lemon Chiffon, thus an intersectional backcross!). As it grows older, the flowers tend to become much larger and more double. Really impressive I think…

Today, 18 February, it is -8 degrees Celsius. We still have a garden, and we have expensive and collectible varieties of peonies. We inspected the garden, and it took our breath away: in half a metre of snow, the tree peony is already ready for spring. We are a little worried. What a thirst for life this plant has, how reckless it is.
