Seedlings from Finland, Ahti from SPS.
I have been a member of the Swedish Peony Society since its inception in 2013 and through them have been able to buy peony seeds from various sources. This peony comes from Finland, Ahti and germinated in just 7-8 weeks with autumn sowing.
All 10 seeds germinated and already next autumn they got a place in the garden. The stems have always been strong and do not need any support, approx. 1 meter high, weak fragrance.
When the first flowers arrived, they were about 12 cm in diameter, but have increased in size to the next 20 cm. Interestingly, they have initially been one flower per stem, but are now up to 2-4 flowers.
Loved by bees that come from the first flower opening and producing loads of seed. Have a total of 8 plants today and vary in color from white, light yellow, light pink to pink. One of the seeds was a twin and the two have so far been allowed to live together.
Right now I’m looking for suitable names for all 8 peonies.
