Paeonia broteri. Nice glossy foliage, good stem strength, pretty flower. Does need drier soil, several plants lost due to somewhat long periods of rain previous year and Winter.

Great to see it’s doing fine with you! Lost one of two last Winter here. The last one has decreased in size as well, I hope for survival now.

spray the plant with (a little dose) superfoliar once or twice per year. decreasing means root trouble and no sufficient nutrients. Plant isn’t able to recover and could die. Superfoliar is low on NPK (2-0-1) but can heal the plant without enforcing it.

Two survived at my place. One from seeds (see picture) and one seedling.
The seedlings were too dry and the others didn’t grow at all.
I learned that sterniana hates to grow in a greenhouse. It needs the outdoors humidity.

Placed outdoors it’s trouble free and recovered from looking poor. (until yet

I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🙂 I’ll try the ‘superfoliar’, I found it (the producer seems to be only 20 minutes away from here) but it doesn’t say very clearly what’s in it.

P. obovata hybrid. With tomentose carpels this must be a garden hybrid. Much easier growing compared to the true species.
