The Peony Society posted in the group Species Peonies International Network (SPIN)
A bit behind schedule with asking the people growing plants to collect seeds this Spring for the ones requesting them. But we still have some time, peonies are only slowly starting to grow. In the meantime: here are some images of P. mascula ssp mascula from Turkey, a plant I grew but which probably died during Summer (it disappeared, then some small leaflets grew again, we’ll see this year). It has quite some leaflets on the lowest leaf, counting 24, which is more than the average mascula, but they grow in a wide geographic area and thus not all are alike. As you can see rather lengthy and slightly pointed at the end, not too wide. Dark pink petals and very tomentose carpels. The backside of the leaflets have sparse very fine hairs, but you need to look very good to see at least some of them.
