Paeonia macrophylla from Turkey

Paeonia macrophylla in Turkey, Kaçkar Mountains, Rize province.

Leaflets are mostly 3+3+3. However, in some multi-branch individuals, this rate may decrease to 8 and it is seen as a binary. However, this is very rare.
It is difficult to achieve a certain ratio in leaf width and height of all individuals. We perceived that there is a difference in leaf shape even within the same population. The most consistent characters;
– underleaf and petiole hairiness,
– pale yellow petals, rarely yellow petals
– hairless carpels
– pink flaments
– We concluded that there is a relationship between leaf shape and the age of the individual.
