Paeonia broteri. Nice glossy foliage, good stem strength, pretty flower. Does need drier soil, several plants lost due to somewhat long periods of rain previous year and Winter.

Worked like a charm this time. Rooted seeds of nearly all ‘difficult’ samples and almost all of them looking perfectly healthy.

From these last series, they’ve received a long warm period and will now go into cold storage. Here the two extremes in seed size: P. ludlowii (or a hybrid with P. lutea/delavayi) versus P. tenuifolia (P. biebersteinia). The latter one is quite prone to rootlet rot is my experience, but no problem this time.

It’s almost certain you’re going to waste a lot of time when a software developing company releases an ‘update’. And so we’ve tried to sort out most of the problems with the social media posts on the home page which are automatically retrieved from instagram, facebook and so on. March 1st, some species are already growing strong outside. P. emodi has lots of stems, but experience from years past tells us that some cold harsh weather along the way to blooming will heavily damage them again. hier bei mir ( Deutschland Mittelgebirge ) sehr früh im Austrieb – früher als P. mairei – und auch sehr empfindlich bei nasskalter Witterung . Habe eine P. broteri aufnehmen müssen , Faulstellen and der Wurzel weggeschnitten und die verbliebenen 2 Teilstücke getopft .
