No seedling number, it being known by a garden name before formally named. Parentage: Open pollinated P. tenuifolia. First bloomed 2000. First propagated 2005. SINGLE flowers, 1 per stem, 9-10 cm in size (4 inches). Red and shiny, like ruby crystals, hence the name, a play on the originator’s name. Generally two pale green carpels, profusely covered with white hairs, stigmas red. Filaments red at the base, terminal half white. Pollen and seeds. Overall similar to the species, but larger in all aspects. Taller, averaging 65 cm at maturity (2 feet), foliage is a scaled-up version of the species, flowers are about 2.5 cm (1 inch) larger than the species, and a little brighter. Flowering begins slightly earlier (1-2 days) and lasts 2-3 days longer.
