]]> 0 fdf1c6c55ee7d7a81ebd4f073802ce0b I am posting an image of Andreas Maschke (B3) flowering in my garden. Very nice plant, herbaceous in appearance, very similar to its pollen parent. The flowers have pollen and carpels. I have used its pollen on so called fertile itohs to increase the tree peony characters and obtain fertile backcrosses. I tried it also on herbaceous hybrids like Blushing Princess and Old Faithful and got a few seeds last year. I have pollinated B3 with other similar peonies like B2 and B1 but results are still to come. I have a couple of seedlings from Andreas Maschke open pollinated still very small. Populariteit van Nederlandse pioenrozen neemt toe
Pioenrozen zijn ongekend populair. De uitbundige snijbloemen danken dat onder meer aan de bloei rondom Moederdag. Maar ook als vaste plant kent de pioenroos een groeiend aantal liefhebbers. Voor beide doeleinden is de regio West-Friesland het epicentrum van de teelt.

P. obovata hybrid. With tomentose carpels this must be a garden hybrid. Much easier growing compared to the true species.

Not completely sure what this is. Received it as ‘unknown’, but from wild collected seeds in former Yugoslavia. P. velebitensis, P. mascula, P. daurica? This is a first year plant so it may well change the following years, perhaps then I’ll be able to tell what it is, but I find it already rather attractive.
